Among Us

I started Among Us after I read Max Brooks’ World War Z. I said to myself, “I can write a zombie book.” So I started writing almost as soon as I put the book down. I was on Christmas vacation with my now ex-wife in Tacoma, Washington at her, now divorced, parents house. Seattle is a beautiful place. I told her about the idea and she was less than enthusiastic about it. So I started writing immediately, the day before Christmas. Within an hour or so I had a couple of chapters but had to put it aside for family whatever.

I didn’t write anymore for quite awhile after that. My ex didn’t really like it or care for it. Encouraging I know. So shortly after moving back home I started to write again. I had plenty of encouragement from my family and my dad really stepped up in making it all come true. He’s the man behind the scenes making sure it all works and what needs to be done. Without him I would have never finished.

The book is about my childhood best friend and I finding ourselves in the midst of a zombie apocalypse in Fort Worth, Texas. Almost all of the locations are real locations in the exact spot they sit today. I take no blame for anything that’s changed after 2014. Since that’s when I finished the book. But for the most part it is as accurate as possible in Texas.

There are several issues with past and present tense which is something I always struggled with even while getting mostly A’s in school in English but, it’s something I’m going to be revising soon and releasing a second edition. For now though I’ve heard it’s an enjoyable read.

I’ve got a small amount of work done on the second book and while I really wanted everything to be done at one time I decided to split it into three. Writing can be demanding some times. I lost inspiration after finishing the first one and it’s taken me quite some time to get back in it. Hopefully it will be out before the end of the year with a mid to late summer release with the third and final book following shortly after.

If you have read the book I want to thank you for your support and I hope that you enjoyed what I wrote. If you review books or have a comment please go to Amazon and write one for me. I’d love to know what you have to say.
